Dolce is a registered 4 year old 16.1h Canadian warmblood mare. She has been the easiest horse I have ever done desensitizing work with. She naturally curious and likes to play with anything new. So far I have not found anything that spooks her.
This is only her 3rd time to be ridden off of the lunge line. Fantastic attitude!! There are very few horses that could handle so many spooky things at this stage of their training. (6-2-12)
Dolce has a fantastic attitude: loves attention, quick learner, not at all spooky, and not at all marish. Most of her training up to this point has been focusing on exposing her to new things. We've gone on plenty of trails in woods, in neighborhoods, near construction, and she's done great with crossing water, deer jumping out in front of her, cars, bicycles, and joggers (see Dolce's desensitizing video). She's one of the bravest, most sensible horses I've ever had the pleasure of training.
This video shows her basic gaits undersaddle after only being ridden with contact a handful of times. She's soft in my hand, light off, the leg, and tries hard to please. I expect her to progress quickly.
This is a fun, uncomplicated athlete, with plenty of promise for a successful career in eventing, huntseat, or dressage.
There aren't many 4 year old warmbloods I would allow my young students to ride. Dolce is the exception to this rule because of her wonderful temperament.
The riders are 9 and 12 years old, and both have only been riding a year.
Good job Mary and Kayla!!
Dolce free jumping 3ft.
Lacy and Dolce do great on their first cross country course.
