Harmony between Horse and Rider
Serendipity Stables engages dressage concepts to improve both horse and rider. Most riding disciplines are competition-based; however, dressage is more than a sport; it is art. The rider teaches the horse to dance using imperceptible aids (helps/cues). To anyone watching the horse should appear to read the rider’s mind and happily do what is asked. Horse and rider become one.
Dressage is a series of gymnastic exercises which improves the athleticism and longevity of the horse. The horse’s state-of-mind is never sacrificed: relaxation is a high priority.
Dressage is the foundation of correct riding. Even if dressage competition is not the ultimate goal of a rider, dressage training will help the horses compete in a variety of disciplines.
At Serendipity Stables dressage is strongly emphasized; however, cross training such as jumping, trail riding, and natural horsemanship techniques are used to create well rounded horses and riders. Lessons are available for complete beginners interested in horses, advanced riders wanting to hone their skills, and everything in-between. Horse training is available for starting horses undersaddle, correcting vices (bucking, rearing, biting, etc.), dressage, trail riding, jumping, and natural horsemanship.
Best wishes on your journey with horses,
Emily McIntosh
