Sandman
Sandman is registered 2005 Trakehner/Arabian gelding with a loveable, puppy dog personality and gorgeous, elastic movement. Currently standing 16.2h on substantial bone and strong, healthy hooves (barefoot his entire life), he is sound with no vices. Sandman has three clear, correct gaits: a loose walk with plenty of overstep, a trot with plenty of suspension yet easy to sit, and a well-balanced canter.
Sandman is confirmed at 2nd level dressage and trusted as 2nd level schoolmaster for students. He earned 67% when he debuted at 2nd level. At his first recognized show ever, he earned a 69% at First level and won his class (open division). The judge, Kem Barbosa (S judge) commented, “Wonderful horse!”
Sandman is currently playing with 3rd level and above. He thinks a few piaffe steps are fun, is eager to do a green flying change (croup high, but no silly business), and is playing with quarter canter pirouettes. He is responsive to seat and leg aids. The hands are not necessary to ride downward transitions on this horse. He's helped many students learn to use their seat to control tempo without reins on the lunge line.
Sandman has excellent ground manners: stands quietly tied, easy to load and trailer, stands quietly for the farrier, and loves being groomed. Sandman also loves his work and attention in general. Super fun to ride as well as just hang out around!
I've known Sandman since he was two. I am not in a rush to sell Sandman. A good fit is a top priority.
Update: Sandman has arthiritis in his hock and has transitioned to being a great lesson horse for beginners. He is no longer show sound, but wonderful for someone wanting to improve their riding and horsemanship.
